Centrally Sharing Files and Folders

There are two ways to centrally share files and folders with users or groups within Nextcloud. This is commonly done to achieve similar effect of a typical Windows server file share or network share in a company. NAS (network attached storage) appliance is also commonly used in this manner.

First method: Create a user that is used to centrally share out files and folder. Sharing is done as per normal sharing method to group(s) or user(s) with permission such as “Allow editing”, “Allow creating”, “Allow deleting” and “Allow resharing”. With this method, the ownership of the files is the user used and only that user’s login can manage it.

Second method:
Make use of Group Folders App to centrally manage this by users in Admin group. Group Folders App has additional feature for “Advanced Permissions” that is not available in the first method.
